Welcome to a new week of Valentine projects! Today's creation is a mixed-media Love house. I am particularly proud of this project because...I cut it out of wood, all by myself. With power tools ☺.
I have several house shapes I cut out before Christmas, waiting to be adorned. My initial plan was to paint this house with large letters that would spell 'LOVE' in a square. But then I decided I wanted to use fabric and trims.
The house and the roof are covered in two different fabrics, I used Mod Podge to attach them. I used a scrap of vintage, gathered trim along the roof line and some baby rick rack along the base. The letters I used to spell out LOVE were a flea market purchase~a huge set in two sizes that was originally used in one of those black velvet display signs. The phrase 'happy and content' was lying on my desk and I thought it was the perfect sentiment for this house. The red heart is chipboard, an old Heidi Swapp release.
My favorite part of the whole house is the chimney.
I cut it out separately and was able to glue it on after the roof was covered in fabric. I drilled a hole in the top of the chimney for the curls of smoke, aka thin gauge wire. The hearts were punched & hand-cut, then glued on the wire. I love how it turned out ♥.
In fact, I love this little house so much, I may have to make an entire Valentine Village!
