A few months back on my trip to Charlotte, NC I got to visit with my wonderfully talented photographer friend, {Miss} Candy Howard. You see, for one special year we shared a preschool classroom together. As teachers. Thus, the Miss Candy and Miss Jen☺. Now, almost 5 years and 1000 miles later, I'm proud to call her a friend.
During my April visit we spent a lovely day together: catching up, lunching on sushi and Candy attempting to impart some of her photography knowledge to me. As a thank you for my one-on-one tutoring session, I made Candy one of my vintage inspired banners. I was secretly (ok, not so secretly) hoping she might be able to use it in her photography business...
Fast forward a few months later and, be still my heart, here it is! Just as I pictured it, only so much better.
Two darling sisters + a LOVE banner + an amazing photographer= pure sweetness.
Thank you Miss Candy, my banners never looked so good!

It's that time of the year again. Bowles Birthday week is fast approaching. Three kids, two birthdays over three days. I'm getting a jump on some handmade decorations for Ebby's sure to be totally awesome blowout bash party...
Yep, our party decor was inspired by my Spartina 449 tote bag ☺.

For more than a year, I've envisioned spelling the word 'bloom' on the Junk Garden fence.
For a long time, I just had the white wooden "O" hanging there. In it's former life, it was a wheel on a kitcschy decorative wheelbarrow. The type that would be at home beside a gnome and a lawn jockey. Not that I'd know...
Next, I spray painted the metal cranberry sifter I bought at a yard sale, um, 3 years ago. I tacked it up and had "OO".
When I saw metal letters at The Christmas Tree Shop for $2.99, I broke my own rule about having only recycled items in the Junk Garden. I bought an "M", spray painted it hot pink and hung it up. For weeks, Ebby was calling it the "Ooooom" garden.
Finally last week I found the motivation to finish up.
The "B" was easy, I had it down in my studio stash. It was black so I spray painted it apple green and brushed on a coat of outdoor poly.
My final challenge was the "L". I wanted to have an upper case "L" though a lower case one would've been much easier (hello, fence picket or tree branch). Then, a breakthrough. Salvaged staircase spindle (bought last year for $5 at an antiques store) plus wire found on a beach walk = "L"! I gave it a fresh coat of white spray paint and hung it up on the fence.
Ta-da! The Junk Garden in BLOOM!
Today, a three-fer ☺.
It started with a moon shell.
There were so many razor clams.

Last week we discovered a new beach.
Ok, not really.
What we discovered was that we have a free parking space within walking distance to a lovely section of Nantasket Beach in Hull. Count us in. It's always good to mix up your beach visits, each place has something unique to offer.
While making the trek from the beach to retrieve the car, I snapped a few pictures of some lovely beachside garden inspiration.

This morning I whipped up this quick little flower arrangement to bring to a cookout that we are {hopefully} going to this afternoon. I re-used a clean, empty salsa jar & tied some patriotic ribbon around the neck. Making the flag was my favorite part. Here's how:
