While packing up the basement this weekend (in anticipation of our reno project down there), I came across one of my thrifted treasures, a Little Golden Book of Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland.
It's in well-read condition. The copyright says 1951, though I'm pretty sure this copy isn't nearly that old. It has an 89 cent cover price, which seems pretty steep for 1951.
The illustrations aren't quite as charming as some other Disney storybooks from the 1950s and 60s (I'm thinking of Mary Blair), but still cute.
The storybook is based on the Disney Alice in Wonderland movie--much different than the current Disney Alice in Wonderland movie.
My two favorite pages from the book are the one of Alice with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and the one of Alice at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.
Could the fact that our family dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland for Halloween in 1999 have anything to do with my fondness for those two pages?
Yes, I'd say so.
Weren't they cute?? Ah yes, the fun you can have with 15 month old twins... :-)
