We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

Here's to a fresh start to 2008!
In honor of this fresh start, I made this wannabe art journal page. I don't actually have an art journal nor do I have 140lb cold press Fabriano watercolor paper to make one (as recommended by Teesha Moore and others) but I wanted to create something anyway. Instead I used canvas paper as my base and created my "page" as I would a pennant for a banner. The back is covered with sheet music and on the front I used different shades of green paper by Amy Butler and Basic Grey. I had a surprisingly good time doing the freestyle circle stitching--who knew? I was thinking about adding some buttons or jewels but decided to keep it pretty simple. The ribbon is from Paper Source--double faced chartreuse satin--and very nice. Overall page dimensions are about 6" by 9".
