Not surprisingly, after a week of Arctic air, the backyard ice rink was once again open for business.
Bobby Law was laced up and ready to go just after noon. He got right to work--building a rinkside Shanty Town, complete with chiminea!
I think it's the bright orange Home Depot bucket that really classes up the whole vignette there.
Will and Cuyler's lack of skates once again did not stop them from partaking in the fun. In fact, once Will got his hands on a hockey stick, he was kind of into it.
In keeping with the Shanty Town vibe, beach chairs on the ice ~ just like the pros do it.
Also not kept off the ice due to lack of skates: Jake.
The boys had a few {skateless} friends over in the afternoon. I shooed everyone out onto the ice for a while.
Bobby Law demonstrated his skating prowess for the young'uns...
Ebby also had a skateless friend over. The girls opted to make s'mores rather than slide around on the ice.
I was ill prepared (I had mini-marshmallows and chocolate chips) so we had to improvise.
Foil packets and campfire tools that Uncle gave us for Xmas to the rescue!
Turns out that improvised winter s'mores taste pretty good.
All things considered, a very successful day at the rink!
Until then, stay warm!
