Hopping that everyone out there had a
Here in Bowlesville, we kicked off the festivities with Easter egg coloring & decorating at Bubbe's on Saturday afternoon. We even had a "celebrity" Egg Decorator...
Yep, Laura was here. Holidays are always much more egg-citing with My Cousin Laura!
On Sunday morning when I came downstairs (before the kids), the Easter Bunny was there to greet me.
At least part of him was.
This year Bobby Law was in charge of creating the scavenger hunt for the Easter baskets. He did a fine job, creating several rhyming clues (The Easter Bunny sat on a wall, The Easter Bunny had a great fall, If you want to see what he left behind, Look under a chair of the red kind) and stashing them in clever hiding places.
Yes, the boys are digging thru the bin of dog food to find a clue.
The Easter Bunny left the usual treats (candy) but also some head scratchers: foam roller, anyone?
That Easter Bunny, he's so clever. And man, he gets around...
This year's Easter Brunch was served right here at Bowlesville on the Hill. Tired of paying upwards of $30 for sub-standard food, Laura, Nana & Bubbe all pitched in to help me with the delicious spread. Pa (and Uncle) contributed refreshment of the liquid sort.
I told people this year's price was only $20 but I guess everyone forgot their credit cards. Or they were too busy eating.
After eating, a few guests implemented what I'm sure they hope will become a new Easter tradition: the post-Brunch siesta.
That was fine though, gave me a chance to clean up and prep for what might really be a new Easter tradition: the Easter pinata. First, a little background. I bought this Easter basket pinata a few years ago at Walmart for about $3, thank you after-Easter clearance. I had forgotten about it until Saturday when Bobby Law spied it during a trip up to the attic. That left me time to procure pinata filler, which Laura helped me stuff in on Saturday night.
Why yes, those are combs? What do you put in your pinatas??
I asked Bobby Law to hang it somewhere in the backyard. Obviously, not a one person job...
There was a rock, a rope and a tree involved. Let's just say that I don't think Bobby Law ever earned his knot tying badge in Boy Scouts. I've rarely, if ever, seen Uncle laugh so hard as when Bobby Law first attempted to launch the roped rock up and over a branch. Luckily no birds or people were harmed when it met with incomplete success and plummeted to the ground.
If only I had the patience to embed video...
Eventually, they worked it out. With a little help from Ebby.
Of course Bobby Law devised a unique way to dangle to pinata, so as not to make it too easy for the kids to hit it... Per-fect.
And that's a wrap for today. My sick (or hopefully, allergy-suffering) son in the other room probably wants lunch. Must go on mothering duty.
Come back tomorrow (I'll try for tomorrow...) to see how the whole pinata busting went down and to see what other Easter egg-citement transpired!
