My Life in Six Words
My Life in Six Words is a story project started by Smith magazine (inspired by Ernest Hemingway. Legend has it that Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? For sale: baby shoes, never worn.) The hook is this: Everyone has a story. Can you tell yours in six words?
Back in 2006 they ran a contest and received somewhere around 11,000 entries. Earlier this month, a book was published: Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six Word Memoirs By Writers Famous and Obscure . This morning, in the usually lame Charlotte Observer, there was a short little blurb about the project. I read it aloud and well, we ran with it...
