or how we like to spend the last Thursday in November here in the South...
For one thing, we like to put on our Santa hats and feed us some goats.
And see if we can't find us a two hump camel while we're at it. Giant, fake candy in festive colors always gets us in the mood for Christmas too. Ok, fine, so the reason we went out was to watch Will and Cuyler in their public singing debut at a local holiday celebration (in this case, they call it a Christmas celebration.
That's right, they actually use the word). All of the 2nd graders at the boys' school have been practicing for over a month, learning songs in English and Spanish. They sang 6 songs in all, and looked awfully cute doing it. Of course you'll have to wait until BGD returns from Newark and edits my amateurish video in order to see for yourself . As for the animals, they were part of a live Nativity scene at a local church. The livestock was separate from the live people, and it worked out rather well. Several costumed shepards were attending to the various goats, a big black cow, the aforementioned 2 hump camel, and 2 llamas. I overheard them saying they had fewer animals than they've had in the past. But they did have 4 guinea pigs. In a cage. Little kids were trying to feed them large pieces of hay.
